What's Cooking at Kindernest? Fresh Farm-to-Table Meals for Early Childcare

Writer: Gina TzizikGina Tzizik

At Kindernest, we believe that when children are exposed to high-quality, nutrient-rich food, they not only feel better but also open themselves up to learning, exploration, and growth.

When we envisioned the Kindernest community, we knew that providing fresh, healthy food would be an essential element. Nutrition is an instrumental part of caring for the child holistically and we hope to take the guesswork out of this type of care for parents. By providing nutritious meals to students at Kindernest, we hope not just to save parents time, but to extend the important social elements of food and eating together to the classroom. Food is at the heart of the home and plays a central role in important events throughout our lives; nourishing the body and mind, and helping us to grow, recharge, and connect with one another.

Meals for Early Childcare

We focus on offering a wide range of flavors and textures, drawing from local, seasonal ingredients that provide the nutrients necessary for optimal physical and cognitive development. By incorporating diverse foods that reflect the seasons, we help children experience a rich variety of tastes and experiences, while also educating them about where their food comes from and the importance of sustainability.

The meals at Kindernest aren’t just about feeding the body; they are about creating a sensory experience that engages children and invites curiosity. We know that when children are excited about food, they are more likely to try new things, develop healthy eating habits, and appreciate the bounty of the earth.

Kindernest Chef Jessi crafts each meal with care, ensuring that every bite is packed with nutrients essential for brain development, energy, and growth. Whether it’s a colorful salad made from farm-fresh vegetables or a hearty, homemade soup, our meals are designed to nourish and fuel children for a day of learning and discovery.

We also understand that mealtimes are a social experience, providing opportunities for children to practice grace, courtesy, and gratitude. Gathered together at the table at Kindernest Montessori, children learn how to serve themselves, set the table, use utensils, and share with others. They take responsibility for their environment by cleaning up after meals and helping friends serve food and prepare the table.

These moments help build a sense of community, where children not only enjoy their food but also develop lifelong skills of collaboration and kindness.

At Kindernest Montessori, food is more than just a necessity—it’s a celebration of our bodies, family, friendship, and yummy foods! And the best part, meals are all included in the price of tuition.
